The ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is a 13-digit
number that uniquely identifies books and book-like products
published internationally. Each number identifies a unique edition
of a publication, from one specific publisher, allowing for more
efficient marketing of products by booksellers, libraries,
universities, wholesalers and distributors.
ISBNs are assigned by ISBN group agencies in 166 countries, coordinated
by the International ISBN Agency in London. The Australian ISBN
Agency assigns ISBNs in Australia exclusively.
Thorpe-Bowker acquired the Australian ISBN Agency in 1997, primarily
to ensure the continuance of a resource of Australian books and
publishers (Australian Books in Print) that would remain
as comprehensive as possible.

Thorpe-Bowker all ISBN and Barcode requests must be paid before
ISBNs/barcodes are despatched.
Customer
Service Policy
All applications will be processed within
five (5) business days. All fast-track applications will be
processed the next business day.
Terms
of Supply and Returns Policy
All goods and services are supplied on a
firm-sale basis.
Thorpe-Bowker reserves the right to withhold
further goods and services from the customer in the event of any
breach of any of these terms and conditions or sale or for any
other reason which Thorpe-Bowker considers warrants such action.
